Lieutenant Promotions The Maui Police Department is proud to announce the following 12 Sergeants who were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant; all promotions are scheduled to take effect on January 16, 2026. Lieutenant Jerry Barrera joined the Maui Police Department in 2010, beginning his law enforcement career as a Police Officer I in the Wailuku Patrol District.
