The Maui Police Department’s 21st Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) class welcomed 22 graduates on October 2, 2026, following 40 hours of training. The program now includes 346 trained individuals. Part of MPD’s CORE unit, CIT training focuses on de-escalation and appropriate care for people experiencing mental illness or emotional crisis.
