Lanai Police Youth Academy Celebrates Six Graduates

The Maui Police Department would like to congratulate the six graduates of Lanai District's Police Youth Academy, Kula Maka'i no nā 'Ōpio o Lāna'i.

Throughout the two-week program, students engaged with several agencies that collaborate with MPD, including D.O.F.A.W (Department of Forestry and Wildlife), DLNR, AMR, MFD, Straub, Child Welfare Services, Honu Mental Health, and Pulama Security.

Students learned about E-bike safety, Hawaii traffic laws and citations, arrest defense tactics, and participated in drill and ceremony activities. The SRT K-9 Unit also visited to give demonstrations, including a showcase of the MPD helicopter Hekili and K-9 operations.
