Severe Weather Travel and Road Safety Reminder

In anticipation of severe weather, the Maui Police Department urges the public to avoid unnecessary travel and remain off roadways until conditions improve.

If you must travel, please remember:

Do not drive through flooded roadways. The depth and strength of moving water can be deceptive and dangerous.

Obey all road closure signs and barricades. They are in place to protect you and our first responders.

If traffic signals are not operating, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Allow extra travel time and drive with caution.

Anticipate longer response times for non-emergency and non-in-progress calls. Public safety emergencies and calls requiring an immediate response will be prioritized.

Your patience and cooperation help keep everyone safe, including the first responders who are working to monitor and respond to changing conditions.
