Officer Suzanne O's One-Year Anniversary Sign Waving Events
On August 15, 2025, Maui Police Officer Suzanne O made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our community. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy continues to inspire meaningful change.
We invite the community to join us at one of our Officer Suzanne O Sign Waving events as we honor her memory and encourage the passage of Officer Suzanne O's Bill during the upcoming legislative session.
This bill aims to make Hawaiʻi's firearm laws stronger by:
• Making it a felony to possess or carry a firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance.
• Making it a felony to possess a firearm while subject to a protective or restraining order.
These are common-sense public safety measures designed to hold dangerous offenders accountable, reduce gun violence, and better protect our communities.
Please stand with us by participating in one of the following sign-waving events or by driving by to show your support between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
August 10, 2026 – Lahaina – Honoapi’ilani Highway, fronting Lahaina Cannery Mall
August 11, 2026 – Molokaʻi – Ala Malama Avenue, north side of the police station
August 12, 2026 – Lānaʻi – Fronting Dole Park off Lānaʻi Avenue
August 13, 2026 – Hāna – Hāna Highway and Hauoli Road
August 14, 2026 – Kīhei – South Kīhei Road and Waimahaihai Street (Kihei Fire Station)
August 15, 2026 – Wailuku Police Station
Every show of support helps amplify an important message: Officer Suzanne O's sacrifice will never be forgotten, and together we can help create a safer Hawaiʻi for everyone.
Those who plan to participate in the sign-waving events are encouraged to create and bring their own signs in support of the Suzanne O Bill.
