November 17-21, 2025, is National Crash Responder Safety Week
Please join the Maui Police Department in honoring this year's theme, "Safety Starts With You – Slow Down and Move Over!"
This Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW), and every week, we urge you to know, share, and follow Hawaii’s Move Over Law.
The “Move Over Law” requires motorists to slow down to a prudent speed, or if safe, make a lane change into the adjacent lane of travel when approaching an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights flashing.
An “emergency vehicle” means a:
Police department vehicle
Fire department vehicle
Emergency Medical Services vehicle
State Department of Law Enforcement Division vehicle
Department of Land and Natural Resources Division vehicle
Towing service vehicle
