Law Enforcement is more than a job, it is a career, it is a calling; it is a family.
The hours are long,
the work is demanding,
it is difficult on your loved ones, you miss holidays, and birthdays.
Why would you join knowing this?
Because…
One person can make a difference; an act of kindness can go a long way.
I believed that 18 years ago when I joined the Maui Police Department and  still believe that today.  Every day is different. I have enjoyed each turn my career path taken;
from patrol to special assignments, from promotions to instructing,
and from Peer Support to Crisis Intervention.
Are you ready?

Aloha, I’m Officer Kalani MILES, I joined the Maui Police Department in 2002, serving first in the Wailuku Receiving Desk before beginning recruit training in the same year. I’ve completed tours of duty in the Kihei, Lana’i, Lahaina and Wailuku districts, and have recently joined the Community Relations Section in late 2020.  I’ve been a Field Training Officer, served on the department’s S.P.E.E.D team and am currently serving on the Maui Chapter’s State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers Union board.  I’m happy to make a difference in my community in a law enforcement capacity, and give back when I have the possibility and means to do so.
